The ULTIMATE FlightScope Mevo+ Review

FlightScope Mevo+

Purchase for the LOWEST POSSIBLE PRICE with code GolfBusters10

Space Constraints

To have your Mevo+ functioning accurately you will need a little over 18 feet of depth and 15 feet of width.

This monitor will be the best next to overhead monitors when you’re playing with righties and lefties but they’re much cheaper than the hefty price of around $10,000 for an overhead monitor.

Accuracy

The accuracy of the Mevo+ consistently reads within a yard of the Trackman and Foresight GC3’s readings. The accuracy amazes me every time I use this launch monitor because it is basically the exact same as monitors that I have used that are priced at up to $20,000. One important thing to be sure of is to purchase the Titleist RCT balls. These balls have special technology that makes the readings of the Mevo+ significantly more accurate.

The only downfall I have noticed with the Mevo+ is it doesn’t always pick up gear effect, but this only happens on severe mishits on your driver. Out of all the quirks with launch monitors I’ve tested, I’m glad that this is the ONLY issue with the Mevo+ because if you are hitting poor enough to get gear effect you know that shot is going to be a mishit already so in the long run it won’t matter that much, because when you do strike it perfect to decent it will read your shot shape perfectly.

This launch monitor is so accurate I have tested so many launch monitors that range from up to $20,000 and this one’s accuracy is spectacular. It never misses a stroke and always picks up on the correct yardage. The Mevo+ is one of the BEST launch monitors you will find with this level of accuracy. Not only is it crazy accurate it is also so affordable when it comes to launch monitors that it’s almost impossible to say no to.

Price, Pro Package, Face Impact, and Fees

The Mevo+ comes out to a total of $1,800 when used with the discount code GolfBusters10. This is one of the most affordable yet accurate launch monitors on the market, so it’s great if you’re on a budget. The Mevo+ is also awesome because it has add-ons that give you so many additional data points that are super helpful when trying to improve your game but do nothing to improve the accuracy. After all, it is already at peak performance. Another big pro of the monitor is that you don’t need to buy anything on top of the monitor and the Titleist RCT balls to get your monitor to its maximum capability when it comes to accuracy. If you are looking to improve your game with some extra club and ball data points I highly recommend getting the extra add-ons. One more significant point to emphasize is that there are NO subscription fees necessary for the Mevo+.

If you are looking for some more data on your simulator the Pro Package includes data on your club path, face angle, and face-to-path. The Pro Package is $700 when bought with the discount code GolfBusters10. This add-on is perfect if you’re trying to quickly correct mistakes in your swing because it gives you immediate data. To get the most accurate reading on your club path the ball will need to be on the center line.

Lastly, the Face Impact comes at about $400 with the discount code GolfBusters10. The face Impact addition shows you where the ball is hitting your club face every time. The only important note to make is with the purchase of the face Impact, to get accurate face impact data you need sufficient lighting. I’ve found that you probably will just need some overhead LEDs, which cost me around $50.

When it comes to subscription fees needed to use the Mevo+ there are none, unlike most other systems that have subscription fees of around $250-$750 annually. With this being said I do strongly recommend the GSPro which is $250 a year and is some awesome simulator software. While recommended it is not necessary though because with the Mevo+ you get 10 free E6 courses. Also, an important note to add is that the Mevo+ is compatible with both iPads and PCs.

Setup, Programs, and Battery Life

The setup of this launch monitor is EXTREMELY important. After getting it down it shouldn’t take you more than 1-2 minutes and you should absolutely take this time to be sure it is setup right. The monitor will need to be exactly 8 feet from the Mevo+ to the ball and a little over 10 feet from the ball to the screen. The surface will either need to be continuous or the ball just be 1 step up from the monitor. The Mevo+ has a generous hitting area of about 1 foot by 1 foot. Make sure to use Titleist RCT balls these greatly impact the monitor’s accuracy and without them, it’s almost a different simulator.

The Mevo+ can be used with any program and can be used with an iPad or PC hooked up to a TV or projector which can help you save money on your projector. On the Mevo+ there are already 10 free E6 courses I have also found that the GSPro subscription has been a very worth it purchase to get the best accuracy and course play experience.

The battery life on the Mevo+ is around 3 hours. With this in mind if you’re going to the range this should be more than enough, but if playing the simulator getting a battery pack to hook up to it while you play might be a good plan.

Outdoor Driving Range

Outdoor accuracy with the Mevo+ is incredible because it reads the ball’s full flight path. One important note to make is that the setup at the range is just as important as indoors so make sure you take the extra minute to set it up correctly.

Responsiveness

The Mevo+ is extremely responsive and it reads everything super quickly. The only time you will notice a delay is when the fusion tracking is turned on combining the camera with the radar, but this delay is only about half a second so it is not much of a drawback. I didn’t notice the delay after a few minutes.

Putting

My first comment on putting is STOP putting on a simulator. This is for 2 simple reasons firstly, it takes a whole extra hour when golfing with 4 people, and secondly, it doesn’t improve your putting game that much. If you’re still looking to putt using a simulator I can say that it is pretty accurate and does read quite well.

Lefties and Righties

Playing with lefties and righties with the Mevo+ is great because you can play without interference and you won’t need to move it every time like most other simulators. This is a HUGE time saver.

Kids

When using the Mevo+ with kids it’s super nice because it’s far back from the screen and it’s very easy to tuck away so they can’t damage it.

Cons

When it comes to the downfalls of the Mevo+ the setup is a little fidgety, but once you get it down I don’t think that it is that bad. You will need to also purchase Titleist RCT balls these are about $70 and should last you through the winter.

One other con of the Mevo+ is the chipping under 12 yards. This monitor has a hard time reading these chips but it’s a simple fix. Just move the ball 5 feet away from the device and manually enter in your program under Mevo to ball 5 feet instead of 8. After doing this your monitor should read chips as short as 5 feet every time.

Club Data Accuracy

One of the biggest benefits of the Mevo+ is the club data accuracy. It’s extremely consistent with both club and ball data and when compared to the Trackman the club speed, ball speed, club path, and ball path are essentially the same.

Why Get The Mevo+

The Mevo+ is my number 1 recommended launch monitor for 99% of golfers. One big reason is you won’t need to move it every time when playing with lefties and righties.

Another key detail is the accuracy is amazing for the price the next best would probably be the Bushnell Pro which is a cheaper version of a Foresight GC3 which is around $8,000. Also, the club and ball data that you get for the price category it’s in is leaps and bounds better than other devices. Overall with the purchase of the Mevo+, you get the best bang for your buck when you look at all the additions and the affordability of the items.
