Introduction

These are the two powerhouse launch monitors that you can buy for under $5000. I have found that the Bushnell Launch Pro is a sliver more accurate, but I still use my Mevo+ 90% of the time and I’ll explain why.

Space Constraints

Mevo+

When using the Mevo+ you will need at least 18 feet of depth which is more than a normal monitor because it sits behind you due to its radar technology. It will need to sit at least 9.5 feet from the ball to the screen (with 10+ recommended), and 7-8 feet from the Mevo+ to your ball. When it comes to the width you should probably have at least 15 feet of width, but for just righties or just lefties you can probably get by with a little less space.

Bushnell Launch Pro

The Bushnell Launch Pro requires less room because it uses infrared cameras. You will need 15 feet of depth and I recommend having 15 feet of width if you want to play with lefties and righties, but you can get by with 11 if you are playing with only righties.

Accuracy

These two devices have almost the same level of accuracy there are just 2 small differences.

Bushnell Launch Pro

In terms of carry yardages, I find the Bushnell Launch Pro is essentially the same as the Mevo+, but it does have the advantage on the shot shape accuracy of gear effect shots (severe mishits on the toe or heel). The only major issue I’ve found in the Bushnell Launch Pro is the low spin readings it gets on driver shots with low launch angle, a draw shot shape, and high ball speed shots. This is a very rare combination and only affects approximately 1/30 golfers I’ve tested but it is infuriating if you have the issue as it reports driver carry upwards of 40 yards short. I know this because I had this issue until I switched to a driver that had more spin and now I no longer have the issue.

Mevo+

The Mevo+ has spot-on accuracy and I’ve found my carry yardages to be within 99% of the launch monitors that are upwards of $20,000 (trackman & GCQquad). When you set up the device properly and use the Titleist RCT balls I truly believe it is the best all-around launch monitor for every golfer. The only issue I’ve found with the Mevo+ is its inability to pick up the correct shot shape on gear affect shots (Severe mishits on the toe or heel). That being said, when you consider the fact that shots with severe gear effect were already going to be bad in the first place it isn’t that big of a deal. In fact, Trackman is known to have trouble with gear effect as well and that unit is $20,000.

Honestly, all launch monitors will have at least one problem, and if I had to choose 1 problem for it to have I would choose this one. Other than that, carry yardage is always on point making me never question how it is read. The ball speed is great and is extremely comparable to top-of-the-line devices. Just make sure to correctly set up the device, use Titleist RCT balls, and GSPRO for the best results.

Price

To get the Mevo+, Bushnell Launch Pro, or Foresight GC3 for as cheap as possible use my discount codes down below under important links.

Mevo+

The base price for the Mevo+ is around $1,900 when bought with the code GolfBusters10. The base unit includes all the ball data, a few club data metrics, a range, and 10 free E6 courses. You also don’t have any yearly subscription fees with the Mevo+. If you do end up wanting more courses I recommend getting GSPRO which is a yearly subscription of $250.

Data points before Pro Package or Face Impact

Face Impact

One add-on I recommend for everyone is the Pro Package which will get you all of the club data metrics, my two favorite pieces of club data are club path and face angle. The Pro Package is around $800 when you plug in the discount code GolfBusters10 and I think for the amount of improvement I’ve seen from it the Pro Package is well worth the price. The last add-on is Face Impact which is around $400 with coe GolfBusters10. I don’t think that it is an extremely important add-on to get but if you have the extra cash it’s nice. Face Impact gives you the data on where to ball hits your club face which can help when you’re trying to improve your game.

Bushnell Launch Pro

The base unit for just the Bushnell Launch Pro is $2,000 with the discount code GB100-JLKJME, with that purchase you don’t get club data so if you want that data it’s closer to around $3,500. On top of that, you’ll need to make sure you use the club stickers so the club data is read accurately.

There are subscription fees with the Bushnell Launch Pro it’s $500 annually. If you want to get GSPro it will be an extra $250 per year but you don’t need it, it’ll just give you access to a lot more courses. The Bushnell Launch Pro is also the same thing as the Foresight GC3 but with subscription fees. If you are planning on using your BLP for longer than 5 years I strongly suggest getting the Foresight GC3 because, in the long run, it’ll save you lots. The GC3 is $5,700 when bought with the code GolfBusters10.

Set-Up

Bushnell Launch Pro

This device has a super fast setup because it uses camera technology so you just need to turn it on hook it up to wifi and go. When it comes to charging the Bushnell Launch Pro you rarely need to remember to charge it.

Mevo+

The Mevo+ will take a little bit longer to set up because you have to make sure the tilt and roll are set up nicely. The set-up of the Mevo+ is SUPER important so I made a detailed video on how to perfectly set up your launch monitor. Once you figure it out though it shouldn’t take more than 2-3 minutes to set up. The charge on the Mevo+ is about 3 hours so make sure to have it charged. If you are just taking a trip to the range try to just charge it beforehand, but if you’re playing in your simulator I recommend buying a battery pack to keep plugged in while you play so you can play over 12 hours straight without interruptions.

Programs

Both launch monitors are compatible with any programs and have official integration with GSPro. The Mevo+ also has 10 free E6 courses so you don’t need any other programs, but we highly recommend GSPro as we have found we get the best accuracy out of the device with it.

Quirks

Mevo+

The Mevo+ has very few little quirks the first being the previously mentioned gear effect problem. The only other things to make note of are you need Titleist RCT balls and sometimes short chipping is hard to get to read, the fix is to manually change your device from 8 feet sensor-tee to 5 feet sensor-tee. These two are such small details that are both very easy to fix.

Bushnell Launch Pro

The Bushnell Launch Pro also has very few quirks the first being when someone hits their driver with a high swing speed, draw shot shape, and a low launch angle the backspin gets read wrong and the carry yardage is too short. Second, you’ll need to buy dark birtees and club stickers, and potentially club stickers if you run out of the ones they give you. This club sticker issue is an inconvenience sometimes because if people are ever over we don’t feel like putting stickers on their clubs every time. This means my friends don’t get to see the benefits of the club data.

Club Data Accuracy

Both the Mevo+ and Bushnell Launch Pro are EXTREMELY accurate when it comes to club data. The Bushnell Launch Pro doesn’t have face angle but that doesn’t take away from the overall accuracy of the Bushnell Launch Pro. The Mevo+ has both face angle and club path but make sure you align the ball in the center aim line to get the most accurate club data readings.

Which One is for You?

90% of the time personally I will be going for the Mevo+ because it’s the best for when playing with friends and offers a lot more data metrics than the Bushnell Launch Pro. I would recommend the Bushnell Launch Pro if you are currently below a 5 handicap and trying to improve without many friends coming over. If you have a smaller space then you probably have to get the Bushnell Launch Pro. There are pretty large subscription fees that do add up after a while though. If you plan on using the BLP for longer than 5 years getting the Foresight GC3 will save you money in the long run because it has no subscription fees and I wish I would’ve gone the GC3 route for my device. The Mevo+ has no subscription fees so if you’re trying to save you should probably go with that one. Either way, they are both amazing devices and you can’t go wrong with either.
